We were honoured to be selected to design the identity and printed materials for the 2011 International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) International Typographic Awards — one of the most respected professional creative awards in the design industry.
The identity took inspiration from the judges voting mechanic itself — each judge using a different coloured post-it note to nominate entries to progress to the next stage. This visual language was then applied typographically, using coloured squares to highlight and draw attention to active messages and calls to action.
As part of the roll-out, we expanded upon the brand system to work across a full-colour, 94-page catalogue. The finished book shows an inspiring snapshot of international tytpographic design and acts as a wonderful source book of brand and typographic excellence.
Following the successful launch of the International Typographic Awards, Playne Design created a supporting website to present entry information along with costs and contact details.
